ITS A MONSTER

Don't be scared - it's not a monster. It's a total godsend!!! That I came up with!!!
So I've been craving a lush fresh face mask for a couple weeks... And as it's snowing like crazy I can't go out to the mall to pick one up. So I got on the internet and started fantasizing...ahem... About their fresh face masks and which one I will get.
I have to admit, the thought of cosmetic warrior is great, but people always complain about the smell. This one is said to brighten and even skin tone and clear acne.
And then I clicked on love lettuce - said to do the same thing except this one also exfoliates and tightens your skin as well, and it smells good! So I think, oh well I'll probably get this one.
And then I remember I HAVE AN AVOCADO IN MY FRIDGE!!!!
So, while I am inspired to combine these to masks, I am also limited to what ingredients are not rotten - as my mother insists you can 'just cut the brown part off'. So, I found my avocado, and remembering my extensive knowledge on all things lush, including which ingredient does what, picked up some lime juice, and then not wanting my skin to dry out, I grabbed some honey as well. My dad got one of those cappuccino foamers from IKEA, and so I poured lime juice in a sauce bowl and turned the foamer on, and slowly added the honey until it became a foam and was thoroughly mixed. I then whisked the avocado until it was completely smooth. And then I asked about the nuts. (Is it bad I tried to spell nuts with two t's, like the retro massage bar?!) I asked if we had almonds, as chopped almonds draw out impurities as well as exfoliate your skin. Grabbed those, chopped about seven to a fine dust, and added them to my mixture. Not wanting my mask to go bad before the Super Bowl game started, and thinking the lime juice would prevent it from freezing, I popped it in the freezer. Well, it froze and it was like an avocado ice cream. I melted it in my hands (which is why it is not caked on in that one picture) and left it on for about ten minutes. I kid you not, my skin is GLOWING, TIGHT, BRIGHTER, AND SOFTER. I AM A LUSHINARY GENIUS!!!! You must now down to my power.
Not really. But seriously, try this! It worked so great for me that I actually plan to submit it to Lush. Eep!! <3
Stay lushable! (AND GO SEAHAWKS!!!)
Love,

Review of Sandy Santa

What is Sandy Santa? Well apparently it was inspired by a trip down under near Christmas and seeing Santa faces in the sand. Which I like the idea of but it's kind of weird associating the face Of Santa Claus with a warm and tropical place if you're not from one. Being from a desert, our winters are freezing and snowy and frozen. Most of the time. As for having a sand and sugar, orange blossom scented solid scrub shaped like Santa, red sand hat included? I adore it. He even wears sunglasses <3 it's pretty cute if I do say so myself. Which I won't. Because that's be really contradictory to my prior statement about Santa and the tropics. Anyway, apparently Sandy Santa used to be just sugar and sand like all of lush's other body scrubs. This Christmas, they added butters and lotions to the sugar and shaped it, like Buffy body scrub and body butter. It works great! In my opinion, better than Buffy. Which is pretty great. It leaves your skin perfumed with orange blossoms and citrus and I think I smell a little jasmine in there. It works really well, the sand does not present a mess, and it smells divine. The only down falls to this product is that if you're in a humid area it can melt or if it gets to hot it'll melt so I've taken to storing it in two ziplock bags in the fridge... So we'll see how long 'till mom kicks it out. As for the second downfall, that's because it's a limited edition product. What if, lush created the same exact product shaped like their original sugar scrub, with the same ingredients as a new body butter scrub? I'd love that! Especially for spring and summer, which is what the scent reminds me of. Yeah, they should definitely do that. Taking all of this into consideration, I would definitely recommend this to my friends and repurchase. And repurchase. And repurchase again.
Love y'all! You LUSHables, you!

Review of Dirty Shaving Cream

Imagine we're camping out in the mountains. It's night time, we've paired off and we're sitting around a fire. Someone pulls out a flashlight and starts telling axe murderer stories to try and scare the girls (ugh, Khalil would totally do this) and once that is all said and done, I speak up with a horror story of my own. It goes like this.
So, as it was getting close to Christmas and I was of course in my local lush store, I picked up a couple samples for my dad to see if he'd enjoy anything from lush. One the samples I asked for was the dirty shaving cream, as the smell wasn't to strong and my dad isn't too big a fan of strong scents. I gave it to him and had him try it and I got half of it back with a distasteful look on his face - it was obvious he didn't like it. As I asked him why, some if the reasons he provided to me go as follows:
- didn't lubricate (cringe at dad using this word) his face well enough
- the razor didn't go smoothly on his face
- it just didn't work
With those in mind I asked him if there were any positives and he mentioned that the smell was ok, which in dad language means that I scored! At least I got one thing right, right?
As there was enough for me to try it on a little leg, I opted to try it incase my dad was gipping me from a good review. Here are my results:
- like the smell
- made my legs feel waxy
- didn't work. At all.
- made me cut my leg, because as I moved my razor up the area with the shave cream on it, it got stuck on a couple areas and jumped them, like a pool ball jumps the table, and ended up cutting my leg!
While I might have had a bad sample or you need more than a full large sample to shave a chin, I will not be retrying this and I would not recommend this to a friend. Try at your own risk!

Review Of Whoosh Shower Jelly

WHOOOSSHHH
Hear that? That's my creativity on how to use this soap rushing by your ears. A lot of reviews suggest putting it into the fridge. I say no - unless you leave it there longer for three weeks - because as soon as the warm water touches it, it melts. And DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT put it into the freezer. Because it melts too, but the menthol and lemon in it freezes and it burns your skin if it comes in contact with it. And uh, hello?! It's soap. That's it purpose. I've found if you crush it into a loofah, you end up wasting a lot of product, or it feels like it. If you just rub it plainly on your skin, I'd suggest NOT breaking off a piece to do this and it just falls apart anyway. Don't just shove it on your head and rub, either. Because while it cleans and does good things for your hair, it does not (in my experience) clean your scalp and it doesn't feel clean your hair until the next day. Something that did, however work, and will ultimately make me repurchase this product, is I crushed t in my loofah, then crushed it some more, and even ran it through each layer of the loofah, squeezing it like a pimple through the layers. An unpleasant thought, as it very well may be (and is), for soap, but it works. And it cleaned and it cleaned and moisturized and was awesome. Something else I should warn about is it turns everything cold - because of the menthol. Even the tiniest bit in a bath will cause your water to feel cold. I did use it as a bubble bath, kind of like I use my fun. I put it into a strainer and held the strainer under the faucet as the water ran. Got pretty decent bubbles out of it, and it really did help with my severe arthritis. At the end of the day, I wouldn't recommend this to people who have never tried a shower jelly. I would however, buy it is a gag gift, show it to my lushie friends, and repurchase simply because I want to see if there are any other ways to use this seaweed moisturizing arthritis helping soap. And when I do, y'all will definitely hear about it.
I just want to take the time to say thank you for the get well letters and the sympathy ecards I have received in the past day. Thank you guys so much, I love you!
Lots of love to my LUSHables,
Lyss

Review of Angel's Delight Soap

So, before I even begin to review this, let me say this: it smells like sweet tarts to me, playdo to my friend, and captain crunch to my cousin, but like starbursts to my aunt. We all enjoyed the scent, except for my friend. This is one of the soaps that you either like because it reminds you of something or you dislike because it reminds you of something.
That being said, I suggest you smell this before you buy it, and if possible, test it on your skin. Just like snow fairy (to be reviewed later) the scent morphs on your skin. To me, the reaction the chemicals (natural, of course. Between the soap and my skin) have seems to send the soap smelling towards the sour side of sweet tarts. Not necessarily bad, but it's no rose jam. The lather is rainbow, it feels divine, and the sour scent doesn't linger. It's a fairly cheap soap because what would've been 15-20 dollars of honey I washed the kids soap was a 5 dollar chunk of angels delight. It is a beautiful soap and I do suggest trying it to see if you like it. Some warn that after a while it turns plastic-y, I disagree with that. Mine is still a regular soap texture, maybe with a plastic bag covering but still the same soap feeling. Try it! And let me know your thoughts.
Love you LUSHables!

Review of Big Solid Conditioner

At first, I loved jungle. Don't get me wrong, I am definitely going to repurchase at some point, now that I know how to best use them for my hair. I did not figure out how to until I had used up the whole bar (in little pieces that I ended up using as a shaving cream for my legs) trying to figure out what worked best. I decided to move on to LUSH's other solid conditioner, BIG. As I have not yet tried their BIG shampoo, I won't say anything on that, but think the same concept. Major volume and shine, with a little exfoliation mixed right up in there. Same scent, too. Jasmine and sea salt, which I can smell because I swear I've been eating plain salt by the bag since I was a little girl. Yes, I am prepared for a heart attack at the age of 30. No lectures, I beg of you people! But yeah, same look, same feel, same purpose and same scent. Which is all around pleasant.  At first I tried smoothing the bar on my hair - didn't work. Then smooshing some up and smothering that in my hair - didn't work. Then I took some smooshed up product, put it in the bottom of a shampoo tin, and added a few drops of water. Mixed with my finger, I realized it was turning into what you would normally think of a bottled conditioner - which for me, was great. I have fine and thick hair that can get oily - and this tamed all of it. As soon as I got it into a sort of cream, I kept adding more water till it was a Lyle more liquid-y, a personal preference I guess, and applied like a normal conditioner. I left it in for a little bit and took some time to just relax and wash my body while my hair conditioned. After like a minute or two, I rinsed it out. And at first my hair felt brittle and straw like - until it started drying a little bit. I rarely style my hair other than brush it or put it up in a ponytail, but I do dye my hair, the only place besides natural elements that damage can occur. It made my hair as soft as the 25$ conditioner samples they put in the box with the dye, only it worked ten times better, made my hair smell so good until I washed it again. Which is every other day. I love this conditioner! The only thing that some people might not like is that if you live in a humid area, it will feel oily (something I like because it makes it easier to use, as t softens the bar) and if you live in a dry area, (like me) it will be a little drier and harder to mix with the few drops of water first applied.it takes maybe 30-60 seconds to mix the conditioner with the water, and a little goes a long way. I highly recommend this.

Review of Rose Jam Shower Gel

Hey guys! Sorry it's been a while since I've written - life has been really busy. Something I should let you guys know is my family is now going through a murder trial, as my cousin was killed. So I have a lot to deal with right now. A lot of people have actually written me about not writing - which really makes my day because I didn't think anyone read this! But that's what I'm going through so I will also put up things on grief and how lush has gotten me through it... I actually have done bath cocktails and grocery lists which gives me some organization and planned relaxation which I desperately need. What I'm looking for is logic, which has almost disappeared from my life. And lush gives it back to me. So, thank you my lovelies <3
On a lighter note, I am absolutely in love with lush and trust them fully again, since the allergic reaction I had I have been weary about trying new things but I think I've figured out what caused it! Butterball, or happy cheery blooming. Which sucks, because I really liked the happy cheery blooming bath melt. For Christmas, lush had this one thing called ROSE JAM SHOWER GEL. Okay, here's the thing. It. Smells. Like. Roses. And lemons. And honey. And a sugary just-out-of-the-oven meringue filled tart that you just bit into and you close your eyes and savor the flavor. The feeling of the lather of the gel is close to all the feathers in the world plucked so it's just the down of the feathers and stuck in a warm blanket with a hot chocolate and a ride down an old English lane in the winter time. This is what rose jam is about! So to tell you the truth, I love the scent of roses, but most of them, even what I remember from my first ever bath bomb from lush, rose queen, kind of smell like grandma scents and the old Chanel number 5 that smelled like powder and formaldehyde and some sort of flower (rose queen was NOT that bad. It was actually good. This is just a generalization) but rose jam? Rose jam defied all of my expectations and surpassed my past occurrences. It really is truly amazing and I hope that enough people (I've already tweeted three times and it's only been four days) complain about it being snatched out of our grasp as, sadly, it was a Christmas limited addition. Now, fingers crossed they make it permanent! Not only is it a romantic, fun and flirty scent, it's very sensual and intimate and in a sense.. Not to turn this blog x rated but it is very sexy and perhaps a little tinge of erotic in there. It just smells so great! It's like an orgasm for your nose, skin, and all of your senses. The scent is so dense (not too strong, but there is depth to it) that you can taste it. It's amazing. I highly recommend it!
